My Blog List

busy busy busy

Things have been a bit hectic recently so I haven't had chance to blog however I thought I would give a quick update on what i've been working on.

This gown I have designed and currently making is reminiscent of the 1940's and to tie in with the era I have been designing a digitally printed panel to reflect some of the key images of WW2. This will incorporate not only iconic photographs such as the D Day landings and the ruins next to St Paul's Cathedral but also some watercolour images I have painted. The final piece of work has just been delivered from The Silk Bureau who did a fantastic job of printing my design onto soft flowing habotai silk for me. This will soon be sewn into the centre kick pleat opening.
far from ready though taking shape

I  have also introduced a poppy theme, by using CAD i have produced a vector image in order that flowers may be laser cut from the edges of the gown to create added effect. Poppies are yet to be made from felt and silk to adorn the dress.

It is far from finished however I am excited how the gown is now taking shape. The finished gown will be being showcased at Blackburn University on Wednesday, 15th June 2011 where I hope to see you there
