a highland new year dress
My daughter is a bit of a Jack Wills fan to say the least and the Christmas party dresses are somewhat amazing however so was their price. With a price tag of £449 for the red tartan dress and over £800 for the blue tartan as they are limited editions, there was no chance that one would be appearing in my 12 year old daughters santa stocking. However it did give me a chance to make something with love for her this Christmas, which was also one of a kind limited edition. The material came from a local mill shop and at £8.99 per meter for tartan silk, it was going to be much more cost effective. Some £20.00 spent on materials I went home and made this dress and whilst it will never be Jack Wills, my daughter wore it with pride at Christmas and New Year (in fact it is at the cleaners as a break from wearing) and whilst a small part of me worries that home made is not cool for a child, there is also the one of a kind, 'bespokeness' to it and how many children can say, my mum made it for me?
